Working with teen moms and dads can be a lot of fun. It can also be very rewarding. Sometimes it's just plain hard. Our staff and volunteers are essentially doing life with our Parent Life teens. Life is often messy. Life can be full of painful situations. But when we are willing to go through the messy and painful times with teens, we sometimes get the amazing privilege of seeing God change lives.

This last month was filled with a lot of messiness. I attended a balloon release for a mom mourning the loss of her first child.  In her daughter's memory, this sweet girl asked her friends and family to donate diapers to help other Parent Life moms. I sat at the hospital with another mom as she saw her son for the last time and said goodbye to him after choosing an incredibly brave and selfless act of love called adoption. Another mom had a court hearing regarding child support. She didn't want to face her baby's father alone. I sat in that cold, unfeeling courtroom with this 18 year old girl. I held her hand and kept her baby entertained when it was time for her to speak.

Broken relationships.

Life is messy. But Jesus was willing to go through the messiness of this world to call us His. He walks with us through the dark times. He reminds us we are not alone. And when we come out the other side, we can be stronger than ever because he gives us His strength to lean on.

Today one of our moms posted these words in our facebook group:

"I was listening to family life radio today and they were talking about the people who led them to Christ. It got me thinking about who led me to Him, and parent life is number one on my list. Before I started going to PL, I knew about God but I did not love Him or have Him in my life. Everything happens for a reason, and I believe that when my friend asked me to come to PL with her one Tuesday, it was God trying to get me to let Him in to my heart. It took a while, almost 5 months, but hearing how much He loves me and the great things He has done for others every Tuesday allowed me to open my mind and see His grace. He has done His work in me! It only takes a spark to make a blaze. Thank you guys so much for what you do!"

Life is messy. But there is also beauty and grace in that messiness. We find Jesus in the messiness. Thank you for making it possible for our Parent Life team to meet our teens where they are and point them to the One who can take their mess and turn it into something beautiful.
