"According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 24 million children in America -- one out of every three -- live in biological father-absent homes. Consequently, there is a "father factor" in nearly all of the social issues facing America today. But the hope lies in the fact that children with involved fathers do better across every measure of child well-being than their peers in father-absent homes."
- National Fatherhood Initiative

At Parent Life, we've seen first hand the effects on children when the father is not involved in their lives.  A few years ago, we began actively inviting and encouraging young dads to attend Parent Life along with the moms.  Some were still involved in a relationship.  Some had broken up
but were attempting to co-parent together.  A few even began coming to group on their own whether or not the mother of their child came. We asked men in the community to volunteer to serve as Mentor Dads to these young dads, meeting with them on Tuesday nights as well as getting involved in their lives outside of Parent Life.  The result has been incredible! Parent Life Lubbock currently has mentoring relationships with 13 young dads! 13 dads who are being prayed with and for regulalry.  13 dads who are recieving positive encouragement and advice from men they can trust. 13 dads who desire to be involved in the lives of their babies and want to do better than their dads did with them.

"Talking to my mentor really helps me. He's made me think about my future as in going back to school and not giving up on it but to work at it." -
Marcus, 19

"He's always there to listen and give us advice. He inspires me and is kind of like a father figure to me." - Anthony, 22

Last month we had our 2nd annual Father's Day Camping Trip.  Our young dads and their mentors spent 2 days together in the outdoors, fishing, roasting s'mores around a campfire and talking about life, relationships and the God who loves them so much that He sent His son to die for them.

Please keep our Parent Life dads in your prayers this month. We believe without a doubt there is a spiritual factor at play here.  Satan would like nothing better than to destroy families who are seeking God and the fastest way to do that is to start with the father.  The statistics show that to be true. But God is so much bigger and more powerful than statistics.  I believe He has a plan and a purpose for the families who walk through our doors.

Thank you for being a part of the Parent Life team through your faithful prayers and support! This year has been extremely hard for us financially.
We are lacking 50% of our desired budget - approximately $3,000/month. Please pray that this need will be met quickly.
