July 2016

We all know what the statistics say about teen parents.  Only 38% of teen
moms go on to finish high school. 1 in 6 teen moms will have a repeat
pregnancy before she is 20. Children of teen parents are at a higher risk
for abuse or neglect. When it comes to faith, statistics show that only 18%
of millennials are attending church regularly while just 37% consider
themselves to be practicing their faith.

At Parent Life we believe that with the right support, education and
resources, teen parents and their children don’t have to become a
statistic. June 30th marked the end of our fiscal year at Youth for Christ
and Parent Life and our ministry numbers are showing that our teens are
defying the odds!

Between July 1, 2015 and June 30th, 2016 we saw 147 teen moms and dads at
Parent Life Lubbock.

96% of Parent Life teens did not have repeat pregnancies this year.

84% of Parent Life teens have graduated high school or received their
G.E.D.

70% of Parent Life teens say that their faith has grown since coming to
Parent Life with many becoming involved in local churches.

There is still more work to be done. My hope is that by this time next
year, those percentages will be even higher! Your prayers and financial
support are what lay the groundwork for the Parent Life ministry. God is
using each and every one of you to help change the direction of these
kids’ lives! Thank you so much for playing such a vital role in this
ministry.
